Cheese potato mochi
Ingredients
- 400g potatoes
- A pinch of salt
- 5~6 tbsp milk
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- Cheese
- 1 ½ tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sake or mirin
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp water
- Butter
Steps
- Cut the potatoes into chunks. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the potatoes and cook until tender.
- Meanwhile in a small bowl mix the soy sauce, sake or mirin, sugar and water. Set aside.
- While the potatoes are still hot, mash them with the salt and milk. Add the potato starch and mix well.
- Wet your hands, shape the potato mix into discs, place some cheese in the centre, then close, seal and shape into balls.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and cook until both sides are golden. Pour in the mixed sauce and coat evenly.
- Transfer to a plate and top with butter.
