Sticky coffee glazed tofu
Ingredients
- 2 blocks firm tofu
- 1 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp white pepper
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 shot espresso
- 3 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- Fresh chilli, sliced
- Sesame seeds
- Coriander, chopped
Steps
- Bring salted water to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling lower to a simmer and add the tofu and cook for five minutes.
- Remove from heat and drain the water. Pat the tofu dry with paper towels and cut into batons.
- In a medium bowl mix the bbq sauce, soy sauce, sugar and white pepper. Add the tofu and toss until coated. Add the cornstarch and toss again.
- Air fry in a single layer for 18–20 minutes until golden and crispy.
- In the frying pan add espresso, bbq sauce, maple syrup, soy sauces. Bring to a simmer.
- Once simmering add the cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
- Add the tofu and toss until sticky and well coated. Top with sliced chilli, coriander and sesame seeds.
