Gamjajeon
Ingredients
- 4 potatoes, peeled
- 1 onion, peeled
- ¼ tsp salt
- Neutral oil
- 1 ½ tsp sugar
- 1 ½ tbsp soy sauce
- 1 ½ tbsp water
- 1 ½ tbsp rice vinegar
- ½ tsp gochugaru
- ½ tsp garlic, minced
- ½ tsp sesame seeds
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp finely chopped spring onions
Steps
- Chop potatoes into chunks. Blend the potato in a mixer or food processor.
- Sit the potato in a sieve over a bowl, let it sit for about five minutes.
- Combine ingredients from sugar to spring onion for the dipping sauce for the pancakes, set aside.
- Meanwhile blend the onion. Once potato has sat mix the potato and onion and season with salt.
- Empty the potato water leaving the starchy residue. Add the starch to the potato mixture and stir well to combine.
- Heat a pan on high and add oil. Once hot take a scoop of the potato mixture and drop it in the pan, shaping it with the back of a spoon.
- Once browned on the underside flip and repeat for the other side until golden brown on both sides.
