Hoisin cauliflower bites
Ingredients
- 1 head cauliflower
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup nut milk
- 1 ½ cup panko
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- ½ tsp garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp water
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C. Line a tray with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large bowl combine the garlic powder, salt, flour and milk. Whisk until you have formed a batter.
- Add the cauliflower to the bowl of the batter and mix until the cauliflower is coated.
- Place the panko in a bowl. Add the cauliflower and toss until each bite is completely covered.
- Spread the cauliflower evenly on the baking pan and bake for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine ingredients from hoisin to garlic in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Bring to a simmer, add the cornstarch slurry, cook whilst stirring until thickened.
- Place the cauliflower in a large bowl and drizzle the hoisin sauce on top of the bites.
- Toss with a large spoon until all of the bites are completely covered with sauce.
- Place the cauliflower bites back in the oven and bake for 5 minutes.
- Take cauliflower bites out of the oven and top with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro.
