Firecracker tofu
Ingredients
- 1 block tofu
- 1 tbsp kecap manis
- 1 tsp chilli oil
- Cornstarch
- 1 red pepper
- 1 green pepper
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 red onions
- 1 cup mange-tout
- Shichimi powder
- 1 lime
- 2 red chillies, chopped finely
- 1 tbsp sweet chilli
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp kecap manis
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp chinese black vinegar
- 1 tbsp miso
- 1 tbsp vegan fish sauce
- 1 pinch white pepper
- 1 tbsp chilli oil
Steps
- Drain and press the tofu.
- Clean and cook the rice.
- Cube the tofu and marinate it in the kecap manis and chilli oil.
- Toss the tofu in cornstarch then shallow fry in a single layer.
- Mix ingredients from red chillies to chilli oil to make the firecracker sauce.
- Heat chilli oil in the wok. Add the bell peppers, red onion and mange-tout.
- Add in the garlic and stir in for 30 seconds to heat it through.
- Mix the sauce and tofu into the wok and cook for another few minutes.
