Caramelised tofu and onion sandwich
Ingredients
- 2 romano peppers
- 1 block tofu
- 1 ½ tbsp nutritional yeast
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 ¼ tsp sriracha
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 4 buns
- Vegan aioli
- Spinach
Steps
- Drain and press the tofu.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cut the peppers in half lengthways and remove seeds.
- Place cut side up on a lined baking tray, drizzle with olive oil. Roast peppers until soft, 10-15 minutes.
- Cut the tofu into 8 rectangles of equal size.
- In a baking dish mix the nutritional yeast, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and sriracha.
- Place the tofu in the marinade. Coat both sides and set aside for 15 minutes, flipping them over halfway.
- Heat oil in the pan. Remove the tofu from the marinade and cook for about 5 minutes on each side.
- Add the onion and remaining marinade to the pan. Cook until browned.
