  • Potatoes
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups grated cheese
  • ¼ cup bread crumbs
  • 6 cloves garlic

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line the casserole dish.
  2. Cut into 1/8-inch slices.
  3. Melt butter over medium heat. Cook onion in butter, stirring occasionally, add garlic and cook until tender.
  4. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until bubbly. Remove from heat.
  5. Slowly stir in milk and 1 ½ cups of the cheese. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute until the cheese is completely melted.
  6. Spread potatoes in casserole dish. Pour cheese sauce over potatoes. Bake uncovered for 1 hour.
  7. Mix remaining cheese and bread crumbs, sprinkle over potatoes. Bake uncovered 15 minutes or until top is brown and bubbly.
