Nashville hot tofu burger
Ingredients
- 2 blocks tofu
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 1 tbsp ground flax
- 1 cup non-dairy milk
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 2 tbsp hot sauce
- ¼ cup pickle juice
- 3 cups corn flakes
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 5 tbsp vegan butter
- 1-2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Buns
- Red onion
- Lettuce
- Cheese
Steps
- Drain and press the tofu. Once done pat dry with a paper towel. Cut of rip tofu into burger sized pieces.
- In a shallow dish whisk ingredients from hot water to pickle juice and place tofu inside. Marinate overnight.
- Place ingredients from corn flakes to black pepper into a food processor and pulse until crumbled. Place in a shallow bowl.
- Dip tofu into the breading mixture. Spray lightly with oil and cook in the air fryer.
- Meanwhile in a small pot combine ingredients from butter to black pepper. Heat and stir until butter has melted.
- Brush the sauce over the tofu and assemble the burgers.
