Ingredients

  • 2 blocks tofu
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup oat milk
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ¼ cup corn starch
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 3 slices of orange
  • 1 ½ tbsp white vinegar
  • ½ tbsp sriracha
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp minced ginger
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp chopped scallions
  • Rice

Steps

  1. Freeze the tofu then let it thaw completely. Freeze it again and once again thaw it.
  2. Press the tofu, be careful not to press too hard as the tofu is very brittle at this stage.
  3. Using your fingers, gently pull apart the tofu into nugget-sized pieces. Set them aside.
  4. Combine ingredients from flour to milk to make wet batter, give it a good whisk to remove lumps.
  5. Prepare the seasoning flour by mixing ingredients from flour to sugar.
  6. Dip the tofu pieces into the wet batter, then into the seasoning flour. Pack the flour in very well.
  7. Cook in batches in the air fryer. Remove and place on a paper towel lined plate.
  8. In a saucepan add the oil, garlic powder and chilli flakes. Toast for a minute.
  9. Add the orange juice, ginger, vinegar, sriracha, brown sugar and soy sauce. Simmer for a few minutes.
  10. Add the tofu, broccoli, orange slices and the cornstarch slurry to thicken. Stir to coat.
  11. Cook until broccoli is just tender and vibrant green.
  12. Remove from heat and serve with green onion and white sesame seeds to garnish.
