- 2 blocks tofu
- ½ cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ cup oat milk
- ¾ cup flour
- ¼ cup corn starch
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup orange juice
- 3 slices of orange
- 1 ½ tbsp white vinegar
- ½ tbsp sriracha
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp chilli flakes
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp minced ginger
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp chopped scallions
- Rice
Steps
- Freeze the tofu then let it thaw completely. Freeze it again and once again thaw it.
- Press the tofu, be careful not to press too hard as the tofu is very brittle at this stage.
- Using your fingers, gently pull apart the tofu into nugget-sized pieces. Set them aside.
- Combine ingredients from flour to milk to make wet batter, give it a good whisk to remove lumps.
- Prepare the seasoning flour by mixing ingredients from flour to sugar.
- Dip the tofu pieces into the wet batter, then into the seasoning flour. Pack the flour in very well.
- Cook in batches in the air fryer. Remove and place on a paper towel lined plate.
- In a saucepan add the oil, garlic powder and chilli flakes. Toast for a minute.
- Add the orange juice, ginger, vinegar, sriracha, brown sugar and soy sauce. Simmer for a few minutes.
- Add the tofu, broccoli, orange slices and the cornstarch slurry to thicken. Stir to coat.
- Cook until broccoli is just tender and vibrant green.
- Remove from heat and serve with green onion and white sesame seeds to garnish.
